In collaboration with the Journal of Interdisciplinary Music Studies (JIMS), the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences invites submissions on the theme of “Music and Voice: Expression, Perception and Induction of Emotion” for a special issue to be published in May 2014 (online first publication with citable DOI upon acceptance). This call for papers is stimulated by the interdisciplinary workshops on the operas Punch & Judy and Macbeth, and the Geneva Colloquium on Music and Emotion (part of the Music & Science Festival) held in Geneva during 2011 and 2012, but is not restricted to presenters and attendees of the workshops and colloquium.
Rather than focusing on a particular discipline, the goal of this volume is to bring together relevant multi- and trans-disciplinary insights focused on the expression and perception of emotion in Music and Voice, as well as on the processes and mechanisms that facilitate emotional induction. Transdisciplinary submissions that promote an integrated study of Music and Voice are particularly encouraged.
Scholars conducting relevant research are asked to submit a full research paper by the 1st of August 2013 that will undergo the JIMS peer-review process. Those papers that are not found suitable for this special issue but that are still of relevance for the JIMS audience will be considered as submissions to a regular issue.
